3.8 El Secreto de la Chancla Scene by Scene Description
Following is a description (in Spanish) of each of the scenarios in the short video 'El Secreto de La Chancla.'
SCENARIO #1
1. Tres niños leen libros. Después, ellos pintan con crayones. Limpian la sala y juegan a las cartas. Los niños están contentos. Están muy bien portados.
Three children are reading books. Afterwards, they color with crayons. The clean the living room and play cards. The children are happy. They are
very well behaved.
2. Señora Espinosa explica por que los niños están tan bien portados. Introduzca el concepto de La Chancla.
Mrs. Espinosa explains why the children are so well behaved. She introduces the concept of La Chancla. (The Flip Flop/Sandal)
SCENARIO #2
1. Dos hermanas se pelean. Una hermana le estrangula a la otra.
Two sisters are fighting. One sister is strangling the other one.
2. La mamá ve que las hermanas se pelean.
The mother see that the sisters are fighting.
3. No lo aguanta. Se quita una chancla y le da con la chancla a la hermana que ataca a la otra. ¡ Pum ! Las hermanas ya no se pelean.
She doesn't tolerate it. She takes off a flip flop and gives 'la chancla' to the sister who is attacking the other one. Boom!!! The sisters aren't fighting
any more.
SCENARIO #3
1. Dos hermanos juegan, pero no dejan que su otra hemanita juega también.
Two siblings are playing but they don't let their other little sister play too.
2. La mamá ve que tratan mal a su hermanita y no lo aguanta. Les da con la chancla. ¡ Pum ! ¡ Pum ! ¡ Pum !
The mother see that they are treating their little sister badly and she doesn't tolerate it. She gives them 'la chancla.' Boom! Boom! Boom!
SCENARIO #4
1. Una de las niñas está sentada en el patio de la casa cuando ve una paleta. La paleta está sucia.
One of the girls is sitting on the patio of the house when she sees a lollipop. The lollipop is dirty.
2. La agarra y se la come.
She grabs it and eats it.
3. La mamá ve que su hija come una paleta sucia y no lo aguanta.
The mother see that her daughter is eating a dirty lollipop and she doesn't tolerate it.
4. Le da con la chancla. ¡ Pum ! La chancla rompe la paleta.
She gives her 'la chancla'. Boom!! The chancla breaks the sucker.
SCENARIO #5
1. Un hijo estudia. Ve su teléfono celular.
One son is studying. He sees his cell phone.
2. Mira hacia atrás. No ve a su madre. Agarra el celular.
He looks behind him. He doesn't see his mother. He grabs the phone.
3. ¡ Pum ! Su mamá lo ve y le da con la chancla.
Boom! His mother sees him and she gives him 'la chancla.'
4. La hermana ve su mamá y ve la chancla.
The sister sees her mother and she sees 'the chancla.'
SCENARIO #6
1. Una de las niñas planea atormentar a su hermana. Planea echarle un vaso de agua en la cabeza de su hermana. Su hermana lee un libro.
One of the girls plans to torment her sister. She plans to throw a glass of water on her sister's head. Her sister is reading a book.
2. La madre la ve y se quita con la chancla.
The mom see her and takes off her flip flop.
3. Sale del cuarto y no le echa el vaso de agua en la cabeza de su hermana.
She leaves the rooom and doesn't throw water on her sister's head.
4. La mamá está contenta; aprueba la decisión de su hija.
The mother is content; she approves of her daughter's decision.
SCENARIO #7
1. La mamá está preparando la cena cuando suena el teléfono. Está muy ocupada.
The mother is preparing dinner when the phone rings. She is very busy.
2. La madre les da con la chancla a sus higos porque se pelean mientras ella prepara la cena y habla por teléfono. ¡ Pum ! Es una intervención indirecta.
The mother gives her children 'la chancla' because they are fighting while she is preparing dinner and talking on the phone. Boom! It is an indirect
intervention.
